And the Moon smiled…
And the moon looks lonely tonight. It’s a luminous yellow and the glow of the night keeps it warm. The birds are quiet, the babies are sleeping. Young lovers talk of separating – for the night – to meet again in a few hours. The dogs are feeling lazy, their wagging tails are asleep. A lonesome tomcat walks precariously on the building ledge. He eyes a night haul, the last till the sun comes out.
It’s a beautiful night, shrouded in mystery. It’s a deceptive night, too. Cause the moon will retreat in a few hours. And with it this stillness of life. Morning clouds will take over, the greys will flirt with the blues.
A car stops in the distance. The lights go off and a man pulls over. He looks transfixed, can’t take his eyes off that round thing in the sky. He stares. For the first time in a week, he puts his worries aside. The shine in the sky makes him forget his sorrows for the night. Suddenly he feels light, the demons in his head go silent.
And tonight, in a moment, the moon lets him cheat Death.
